Welcome to GoldenEye
For fifty years it has been synonymous with glamour, sensuality, and artistic endeavour; a location permanently overhung by the knowledge that this was where the writer Ian Fleming penned his immortal tales of the superspy James Bond.
Property History
I first visited GoldenEye in the late fifties. I went with my mother to a party that Ian Fleming was giving for friends in Jamaica. Noel Coward was there... It was a casual affair-with lunch served under the almond trees and overlooking the beach-what I remember most is a lot of laughter. - Chris Blackwell
We arrived before dusk. It is quite perfect... a small private coral beach with lint white sand and warm clear water. The beach is unbelievable. We swam, after a delicious dinner, and lay on the sand unchilled under a full moon. So far, it all seems far too good to be true. - Noel Coward
The Chris Blackwell Story
In 1959 Blackwell founded Island Records, and built his reputation by launching some of the world's most talented artists including Bob Marley, U2, and Steve Windwood.
In the 1990’s Blackwell diversified his business interests with the creation of Island Outpost, a collection of boutique resorts. In Miami his foresight revitalized South Beach: The Tides, The Marlin, The Kent, and six other timeless hotels re-emerged as classics.
In 2003 Blackwell was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. In 2009 the BBC named Blackwell the most influential figure in the last 50 years of the British music industry. 2009 also marks the 50th anniversay of Island records.
A Developing Opportunity
In 1992 Blackwell turned this legendary property into an elegant resort. A pristine lagoon and ideal crescent beach form an oasis for waterfront residences at the heart of GoldenEye's expansion.
Time went by, and more and more people asked if it would be possible to own a villa, a cottage, or even a hut on this secluded piece of land. -Chris Blackwell
Eleven beachfront cottages are the first properties available for private ownership and are a natural expansion to this legendary resort.
Culture
GoldenEye is rooted in arts & culture and continues as a destination for individuals seeking inspiration. Guests include Johnny Depp, The Clintons, Naiomi Campbell, Yoko Ono, Pierce Brosnan, and Scarlett Johansson.
It's taken me years of planning, many years spent walking the property and contemplating its integrity, to feel absolutely sure that the master plan for development reflects the true spirit of GoldenEye-not only its history, or the place it holds in the imagination but the very real way in which it will be experienced by generations to come. - Chris Blackwell
Community Commitment
Island Outpost is not only a hotel operator, but a true local, with deep historical ties to the places it operates.
Community Tourism
Our guests are uniquely positioned to get involved in the local communities; many have significantly impacted the areas through generous donations and program implementations.
Giving back to the culture he so highly regards, Blackwell has established the charitable organization Island ACTS (Assisting Communities Toward Strength). An umbrella for Island Outpost's many charities throughout Jamaica, Island ACTS works towards the advancement of education, healthcare and community development.
Oracabessa Foundation
The Oracabessa Foundation reaches at risk youth through sports activities-swimming classes, soccer clubs, and summer camps providing an environment for children to flourish.
The creation of sports leadership programs and organized sports teams accounts for over 500 local participants in football, cricket, and netball.
Connecting With Locals
Too often, in the islands, people are confined to the boundaries of the resorts they visit. What sets Goldeneye apart is its evolution as an open community.
"I have always tried to make it a priority to give back to the people of Jamaica. I want to expand that commitment through a non-profit foundation I have established called Island ACTS. In addition to charitable contributions in the US and elsewhere, Island ACTS will fund and promote better health, education and welfare in some of Jamaica's poorest communities." - Chris Blackwell
The Spa
GoldenEye is so peaceful, there is no place like it. - Iona Wynter, Jamaican Olympian
Outdoor Peace
The Spa at Goldeneye is a comprehensive and integrated program that combines the timeless spa truths: exercise, adventure, nature, pure food, connectivity to self and community, healing, and creative renewal.
Lead by the iconic Iona Wynter, a Jamaican triathlete, The Spa at Goldeneye holds the happy distinction of being the first spa in the world headed by an Olympic competitor.
Elixirs, tonics, and steams are infused with healing flowers and herbs grown at Pantrepant, our 2,500 acre organic farm, also the source of our inspired spa kitchen cuisine, serving three meals a day, and hands-on cooking classes.
Water Is Life
Time becomes more mindful, a slower cadence of breath. A retreat to the Spa at GoldenEye brings lasting results that transform our lives at home and work.
Tree-house inspired treatment rooms, salt scrubs in sea caves, a cliff-side hammam. We provide a sanctuary for massage, energy work, and herbal wraps.
"Above all, Jamaica has provided a wonderful annual escape, from the cold and grime of winters in England, into blazing sunshine, natural beauty, and the most healthy life I could wish to live." -Ian Fleming
Coral Restoration
"Nature is the center of life at Goldeneye" - Chris Blackwell
Environmental Link
Encircled by an emerald lagoon with sheltered beaches and secluded coves, GoldenEye is a magical sliver of Jamaica’s north shore, nestled between coral reefs and tropical forests.
Pantrepant
Grown Locally
Established in 1758, Pantrepant is Island Outpost's organic market garden. Situated in the far west of Jamaica lie hundreds of acres of soil untouched by chemicals. Pantrepant nestles on the banks of the roaring Martha Brae River in the heart of what is known as 'Cockpit Country.'
One of the greatest luxuries on earth is to eat the produce from the land you are on and take the time to enjoy it.
Agricultural Hub
GoldenEye homeowners gain access to the private oasis at Pantrepant. The former sugarcane plantation provides a lush retreat from the Coast and timeless moments for exploration. Pantrepant guests enjoy horseback riding, tubing along the Martha Brae River, and exploring our organic gardens.
Uniquely Local
In keeping with our wellness philosophy, the organic produce grown at Pantrepant will serve as the primary food source for GoldenEye cuisine. We strive to keep all of our products and services local, employing area farmers to harvest the crops, and planting fruits and vegetables indigenous to Jamaica. Taste the goodness of giving back to the community!
